"Texas Kingdoms" is the 30-year story of two men, a woman, and a town.
Will Stewart and Chance Evans come to Texas in 1851, on their way to the California gold fields. Will is poor and determined to make something of himself; Chance is a gambler, determined to separate fools from their money. The two men are attacked by Comanches, and Will is so badly wounded that he can travel no further. He and Chance are forced to winter where they are, and by the time spring comes, they’ve decided to stay in Texas and make their fortunes there. Will painstakingly begins to catch the wild cattle that roam the brush, while Chance sets up a tent by the road where he sells whiskey to travelers and takes their money at cards.
Settlers arrive, among them the beautiful Hope Sommerville. Will and Chance both fall in love with Hope, who will get pregnant by one man and marry the other. As the years pass, Will’s handful of cows becomes a cattle empire, and Chance’s tent becomes Kingdom, wildest town on the Great Western Trail. Will, Chance, and Hope face Indian attacks, war, the loss of children, and the lawlessness of the post-Civil War West. Will’s love for Hope drives him to do great things, while Chance’s love casts him into a vortex of self-destruction and crime, and Hope learns what true love really means. Then one shocking act threatens to destroy them all.
Spanning the period from the Comanche wars to the coming of the railroad and the end of the great cattle drives, "Texas Kingdoms" is a saga of love and friendship and the limits to which people will go for each one.

The author is a great writer but needs a proofreader. You wait for the next misspelling with things like "he put his 'aim' around her shoulders" or " he pointed his 'gap' at the rustler" and there were a lot of them. I gave this 2 stars because the author writes a good story but these three central characters, Will, Chance and Hope are the dumbest folks you will meet. For example, in the beginning story line, Will is ambushed by a real bad guy named Squirrelly eye, he and chance kill off his men but only wound Squirrelly badly and then Will let's him ride off because he doesn't want to finish him. Of course, later in the story this bad guy comes back to haunt Will and kills his son, Tommy. As you read the actions of these characters, you scratch your head saying these are the dumbest Texas around...Product details

Texas Kingdoms edition by Robert Broomall Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Although I would like to have been able to proof read this writing prior to publishing the story is a decent leap through the history of the west. There was at least 5 in depth novels that could have been spin offs. I enjoyed the story because I was able to turn my imagination loose and visually see many of the incidents.
One of the best westerns I've read. True to the times, as so few are. Highly recommended.
This book has everything you could want in a Western. Cowboys, Indians, Wagon Trains, cattle, rustlers, saloons, shootouts, Calvary, posses, cattle drives and even a stampede, and it's in in an interesting, exciting well written story.
RB ha written a classical western novel that covers the westward tide of wagons, with families, heading west. The storyline begins before the Civil Was and extends to the 1880's. The story is about two partners who are headed to California to search for gold. An attack by Indians causes one to be injured. They stay there and start a ranch. This is an excellent read for the genre..... ER
This is perhaps the best Western adventure I have ever read it combines friendship hardship love and all of those things that make a western great it is really a saga in itself from beginning to end thank you very much for a well written Western
This was a wonderful book set in the old west!! It was a story of two friends who were in love with the same woman! One of the men was a good, upright man, and the other took a wrong turn!! It was a story of their struggles to endure the hardships of the times and to survive in a land filled with Indians and outlaws. They each became successful, but to what end?
Very good! Intense, exciting and suspenseful! Hope the California Kingdoms will be every bit as good! As Robert Broomall as the author, I'm sure it will be. Will and Chance had been through so much together, it's too bad one of them had to be the bad guy throughout most of his life! And the other one just could not see it, he turned a blind eye to it. I don't want to give away anymore of the wonderful story, so I'll just say I highly recommend this book. You'll be glad you downloaded and read it!!
