At 42, divorced mother of two Nicole Adams yearns to discover her true self again. Her children recognize the defeat and sadness in her eyes and she knows that her kids deserve to see their mother happy.

When Nicole follows the suggestion of a friend to go on a spa getaway during a time that her children are away with their father, she does so believing that it might lead to the self-discovery she is seeking. What she ends up finding at the Cielo Spa & Resort is much more than what she bargains for. What she ends up finding at the Cielo Spa & Resort is Gavin Bell.

Gavin Bell is a successful businessman who only cares about his clients and getting the job done - it's how he's always defined his life and it's also the thing that led to the downfall of his marriage. But he hasn't found a good reason to change his ways - it helps him to ignore any hints of loneliness or regret about his past mistakes.

When Gavin's boss and best friend sends him away to a spa in the mountains for a break from work, Gavin is anything but pleased about it. He decides that he'll spend the time in his room on his computer working, but while checking in, he meets a woman that he can't get out of his mind.

Both deceived about the Cielo Spa & Resort by well-meaning friends, Nicole and Gavin find themselves amongst individuals looking for love - a fact that neither of them is pleased about. They'll make the best of a night - or two, if a shared meal convinces them that an initial spark just might be turning into something more.

I really wanted to like this book and it started out good, then the mistakes started to happen like moonlight when it was just day light 2 sentences ago and many more things like that. I also felt like for a character in their 40's she acted more high school age.

To Love Again Forty and Free Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Lillianna Blake Maci Grant Gwendolyn Druyor Books Reviews

While I liked the characters in this story well enough, I found some of their interactions and the premise of the story a bit unbelievable. What I liked most about it was that the two main characters were in their forties. That's actually the main reason I chose this book.

It wasn't a bad read - not at all. I just found it hard to believe that people their age would act the way they did in some scenes. I guess maybe love makes us all act in ways we wouldn't ordinarily act, though. I would definitely read more from thia author.
I really wanted to like this book, but I rolled my eyes a lot. For one, I don't know how old the author is, but she made 42 sound like 52 (60 for some). I wanted to slap her. If it was because of how her ex broke up with her, than it wasn't executed very well for me to understand why sagging boobs, menopause and wrinkles kept getting brought up anytime she looked in the mirror. I also didn't really understand why they were suddenly "in love" after 3 hours. I know the old writing rule - show, don't tell. But the style of dialogue made it sound like these two people spent 5 hours a day in couples counseling in the hopes of meeting someone, but couldn't quite follow up with actions. Sorry, didn't work.
Nicole and Gavin have been hurt by their respective spouses and now are both alone.
When their friends lead them both to a resort, one that is supposed to find their
perfect match. They expect to relax, not to find a romantic match especially not
each other. . .Adults 18+ only for sex scene. Has alternating POV's. Must read.
Contains previews of Book 2 - To Trust Again, the next book in the series, Single
Wide Female, and Summer in Diamond Bay (the last two are the first book in their
respective series). Must read.
I really like the idea of older main characters. The heroine is a mother of two, recently divorced and her ex did a number on her confidence and self-esteem before he divorced her to marry a much younger woman. the hero is also divorced, a workaholic that neglected his wife until she left him. He is broken and a little jaded.

I thought the story was good. I liked the main characters even with all their issues. A weird set of circumstances has them at the same resort and spa. It has a secret agenda which they were not aware of until they arrived. They each decide to check-out and go back home but they can't leave before morning because of plane schedules, etc. so they wind up going to dinner together and then things start to happen - rather quickly. There are no sexy scenes involved so any age could read this story and be comfortable. In a way it would be good for some young people to read and see what NOT to do in the beginning of a relationship.

SPOILER -- I thought the heroine was a bit on the immature side for a woman of 42 with two kids and a failed marriage behind her. It sort of bothered me that he kept talking of being honest and yet she lied by omission and then in her own head tries to hold him responsible. He loses his temper when he catches her in a lie and she feels he is ..."showing his true colors". Really? She sees him on the deck with another woman and gets a little huffy while she is in the middle of setting up a date with another guy? Doesn't the rules apply to both here? I have never understood women that take advice from someone who obviously has no clue what is going on. A woman that goes thru men like tissues at a cry fest is not one to get advice from on how to hold a man. Plus, I think the biggest problem I had was that she was "playing games" rather than just being honest with him.

It all works out in the end and they do get their HEA. I would recommend the book. I thought it was an entertaining read.

I was not paid for my review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
These characters did not fly for me. Everything seemed contrived and fake, especially a mom who in the beginning had so many strong feelings as that mom had for her kids. In addition, one scene went from a planned luncheon date to the girl noticing the moonlight, then sure enough they go have lunch! What???????
At first it seemed as if this book would have depth. I like well-developed characters. It makes me feel like I know them. But these characters just whined on and on about their fear of whatever. Too much internal dialogue and rippling jawlines. Then - BOOM - they're in love after two days? Nope.
I was really looking forward to reading about two people in their 40s finding love the second time around. The book started out great. I understood all of the heroine's feelings and fears perfectly. The hero....not so much. Once they connected at the spa, the story started going downhill for me. It actually sounded more like couples therapy to hear them talk. And the 'misunderstanding' was a little silly. The big problem for me was that they 'fell in love' in less than a week and were planning a life together although they hadn't met her children, his friends, or experienced anything 'real' in their (extremely) short relationship. Real life is a lot different than a fantasy spa vacation and I just couldn't see these two together for the long run. Maybe if the author had done a chapter or two after the spa visit or even an epilogue, I could have found the story more satisfying.
I really wanted to like this book and it started out good, then the mistakes started to happen like moonlight when it was just day light 2 sentences ago and many more things like that. I also felt like for a character in their 40's she acted more high school age.
